Bogota Goes Car Free

Anyone who lives in a metro-area knows the kind of trouble cars can cause. Traffic, noise, accidents, pollution—it’s not a happy list.

Maybe that’s the reason the 7 million people in Bogota, Colombia like to go car-free once a year. And not only were they the first country to have a car-free day, but it’s also the largest car-free weekday in the world. And now Bogota has even upgraded to a car-free week!

Check out this short video on the city’s car-free day.

Luckily, a day without cars isn’t a hassle for this city because of their great bike paths and public transit system. Let’s do the math, shall we?

Less cars = less pollution + more exercise + less noise + healthier air to breathe + less accidents

Sounds perfect to us.
