Raleigh, North Carolina is about to get really healthy and hipster when they open up their first “Farmery”—that’s a grocery and an urban farm combined into one. The vegetables and fruits are grown vertically right there in the store.
The Farmery will have tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, potatoes, squash and blackberries for the locals to take. Shoppers can see how their food is being grown and can even harvest some of the produce themselves.
Growing food right in your store has got a lot of benefits: the food is fresher, it’s organic, and making friends with the people who grow your food creates a sense of community.
