Most of us don’t have to worry about when or what our next meal will be, but every day millions of people (even in cities!) do. There’s a really simple solution to this though: grow a row.
If you’re an urban gardener, all you have to do is grow an extra row of whatever it is you’re growing and donate that row to a local homeless shelter, soup kitchen, or women’s shelter.
A row of tomatoes to a homeless shelter doesn’t sound like much (or particularly delicious)—but mix that with a row of lettuce, carrots, potatoes and other veggies from your fellow urban gardeners, and you’re that much closer to a tasty meal.
Do you have a food garden? What extra row of food can you come up with? Let us know in the comments.
